In 2006, we took the first step in creating a vertical supply chain in chia cultivation. Today, with the help of local farmers, we harvest our Sachia® chia seed on 2,500 hectares of land, which we can expand when needed. It is grown according to certified organic standards (SMETA, Naturland) and to conventional standards.

In addition, we operate two purification plants on-site in Guadalajara and ensure fair working conditions here: our 45 trained colleagues are provided with secure full-time contracts, which is unusual for Mexico.

We started the development of chia cultivation in Uganda in 2015. Today, we grow organic and conventional chia in the Kitwanga and Oyam regions. Due to the proximity to the equator, up to three harvests per year are possible, depending on the weather conditions. We consistently observe crop rotation methods in every area we cultivate to ensure soils can regenerate in a natural way. Our Ecocert-certified project in Uganda employs over 2,000 people, providing them with a secure future.
Learn more about the passion and expertise that underpins the way we cultivate and produce our Sachia® chia in its country of origin. You can also find out more about the quality standards we consistently adhere to throughout the supply chain and which define the products that are familiar to you. Sachia® is a Naturkost Übelhör brand.
